Historic Blakeley State Park invites all those interested in the literary arts to join us at Five Rivers Delta Resource Center for our annual Alabama Authors Day. This special celebration showcases the work of accomplished writers throughout the state, with an emphasis on Gulf Coast authors and those who explore topics associated with regional history and natural heritage.

This year's lineup includes Mobile writer Chris Andrews with a book about Mobile's culinary history; Fairhope historian Alan Samry with a look at that city's historic sites as they were and as they appear today; retired Maxwell Air Force Base historian Daniel L. Haulman with his work on the iconic Tuskegee Airmen; naturalist, poet and photographer Susan Rouillier with a look at this region's natural environment; and Lisa McNair, sister of one of the four little girls killed in the infamours 1963 bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, with a memoir about her experiences.

Author presentations and booksignings begin at 12:00 PM in Delta Hall at Five Rivers Delta Resource Center, 30945 Five Rivers Blvd., Spanish Fort Admission to lectures and booksignings is FREE

The Apalachee Exhibit Hall at Five Rivers , featuring taxidermy, live animals, local artwork, and exhibits, will be open throughout the day.

During the day, Blakeley’s Delta Explorer will venture into the wild and scenic lower Mobile-Tensaw Delta on four different cruises. We take a 1.5 hour “Civil War on the Eastern Shore” excursion at 10:00 AM and in the afternoon offer three one-hour cruises showcasing this amazing natural habitat.

The Greek Gals Food Truck will be on hand from 11-2!

Lectures are free and preregistration not required; to register for our one-cruises follow this link:
