Historic Blakeley State Park Offers Guided Walking Tours for Groups!

Historic Blakeley State Park offers guided group tours of our historic Civil War battlefield and the enchanting site of the ghost town of Blakeley. Each tour is led by a park ranger and lasts approximately 45 minutes. (Shortened versions of both tours may be combined as a single hour-long touring experience).

Price: Minimum $75 in regular admission fees for groups of any size.

Town of Blakeley Tour

Guests can walk the streets of Blakeley, which was founded in 1814 and during Alabama’s first decade of statehood ranked as one of its largest towns. Along the way, they will learn about Blakeley’s founders and residents, the reasons for its rise and decline, and its enduring legends. The tour includes visits to the ruins of Baldwin County’s first courthouse, historic Washington Square and the Blakeley Harbor on the Tensaw River, where ocean-going vessels once docked and some of the earliest steamboats in the state of Alabama were built.

Battlefield Tour

This tour allows visitors to literally walk in the footsteps of the contending armies which fought in the Battle of Fort Blakeley, Alabama’s largest Civil War battle, on April 9, 1865. Guests will be able to tour sections of the extensive system of earthworks that formed the Confederate and Union lines on one of the best-preserved battlefields in the country. Tour stops include amazingly intact trenches, artillery positions and rifle pits. Participants will have an opportunity to walk the ground where some of the fiercest fighting in one of the last great charges of the Civil War took place.
