Special Outdoor Class: Keeping a Nature Journal

Date: April 27, 2019
Time: 9-11 AM
Price: Complimentary with regular park admission

Do you have an interest in nature and art? That’s all you need to join us for this unique, interactive class introducing park guests to the fulfilling hobby of nature journaling! Designed specifically for first-timers with no art experience, this class is an introduction to the “old world” tradition of combining art, writing, science and field observations in a single journal. In this class, you will learn reasons for keeping up this timeless tradition, gain a knowledge of the tools of the trade, and be able to explore some of Alabama’s richest natural habitat for inspiration. The biggest takeaway may just be that you will learn there are still ways to be an adventurer—but in your own backyard! Our instructor will be local self-taught artist Nancy Milford, a member of the Mobile Arts Council and the American Society of Botanical Artists.

Bring a sketchpad and something to draw with. You might also want to bring a folding chair as seating at the pavilion is limited and the class may explore a nearby area of the park with few benches as you search for subjects.
