This one-of-a-kind cruise will explore the past, present, and future of the venerable SS United States, currently docked on the Mobile River. Special guest Captain Tim Mullane of Coleen Marine will be our guide as we learn about all the work that has gone in to prepping the famed liner to become one of the world’s largest artificial reefs. Mullane, a Navy veteran who breaks up ships for a living, has led the labor-intensive and complicated process of removing toxic materials from the ship’s interior and preparing it to be strategically sunk so that it reaches the bottom of the Gulf upright, in one piece off the Okaloosa County, Florida coast. Along the way guests will have one of the final opportunities to get a close view of the venerable United States, the fastest ocean liner to ever cross the Atlantic and the largest passenger ship ever built entirely in this country.
