This workshop will introduce social studies teachers and others to the practice of deliberation in the classroom using materials developed by National Issues Forums Institute and a network of teachers from around the country.
Specifically, teachers will deliberate the decision of what to do about the fractured relationship between colonies and mother country in 1776 and learn how and why to moderate similar experiences for students in the classroom. Teachers will discover the context and outcome of Revolutionary War battles that took place near Mobile and the future Baldwin County vicinity and strategize on ways in which local historical content can deepen student learning of American history.
